Absolutely worth visiting, very beautiful. I do feel the lift tickets are too expensive ($17 to the first stop and $27 to the second stop) but since we were only going to be there once in our lifetime we went ahead and paid for the ticket all the way to the top to the glacier. I highly recommend if you're going to ride the lift, pay the extra to go to the glacier, the view from the top is phenomenal and seeing the glacier was really cool. We also did the hike to the Red Crater which was also amazing, some breathtaking views song the way.

¡No podíamos creer nuestros ojos!

Beautiful, steep ascent on the way in some part. Snow covered on top. Weather is hot today. Very spectacular view of lake Llanquihue and other mountains. Saw a trail around the volcano, middle part where the ski lift starts. Though close to 12 PM, all shops and ticket office are still closed. One person waiting there to buy chair lift ticket told me, they have been waiting since 9:30 am and at that time was as told ,will open in 30 mins. But it is already 11:50 am. Still closed. Ski lift tickets for adult is approximately CLP 28,000. May be for whole day. Half day is approximately CLP 20,000. We left afterwards as we font have much time.

Road is asphalted all the way to the top. We drove past a sea of alpine flowers and other high mountain vegetation until we reached parking at the top, which is lava sand and devoid of trees or other plants. The view of the surroundings is magnificent including the lake down below but the wind was something fierce. You can hike over the mountains of lava sand or take a ski lift to higher elevations. A restaurant and bathrooms are also there. There were plenty of tourists.

Went during the summer high season. The chairlifts are open for sight seeing and some limited tubing. If it's a clear sunny day the view from the top is spectacular. I imagine you can also use the chairlifts to make the climb to summit easier if you know a route. It's about 3000 pesos for both chairlifts. The cafeteria only has instant coffee and a limited menu. There are also some shorter hiking trails around the parking area that will allow you to see more of the area.
