Christmas 🎄 Experience at Chatsworth House, UK
Transportation We started from Manchester and took the train to Sheffield, then switched to the 218 bus for a round trip. ✅ Pros: It wasn't as unreliable as described on Xiaohongshu. The bus was 10 minutes late on the way there, but on time for the return trip. I suspect that posts about the "218 being particularly unreliable" on Xiaohongshu might be biased by chartered car advertisements (but we can't rule out survivor bias either). Cheap, £4 for a round trip. ❌ Cons: The bus was quite small, and despite many tourists, it was just a single-decker minibus. There were no seats on the way back, and due to its small size, some tourists at the back of the line couldn't get on the bus. It's recommended to line up more than half an hour in advance for the return trip. Christmas Market ✅ Pros: The Christmas market is quite large and can be browsed for a while, with a wide variety of items and a strong Christmas atmosphere. ❌ Cons: The items are extremely expensive. A friend spent £4 on an instant coffee, and a chocolate item thought to be a cake turned out to have only a small amount of creamy frosting, incredibly sweet. Big disappointment, the unscrupulous 🇬🇧 lady owes me £1.85. Garden at the Estate ✅ The estate is not very large and can't be toured for too long, but it's very photogenic, especially since the day we went was a sunny day, and we took many beautiful photos. Overall Review: The garden scenery is beautiful, and the market and house have a strong Christmas atmosphere, but the supporting transportation facilities are not well-developed. The overall experience wasn't as good as imagined. I think there's over-marketing involved. A day trip starting at £60 is a bit not worth it, but "since we're here," we can't help but go and have a look~ #ChatsworthHouse #ChatsworthEstate #ChatsworthChristmas #ChatsworthEstateChristmas
