Chubby Curry — Is It Worth a Special Trip?
Hey everyone! Have you tried Chubby Curry yet? It’s the new Japanese curry spot from the Chubby Group (same folks behind Gyu Bushi and Shabu houses) — now open in Beverly Hills! Rumor has it the menu was developed by a Michelin two-star chef… so of course, I had to check it out! 🍛 My Honest Review — Hits & Misses First, the good: their Japanese curry sauce is actually pretty solid — rich, smooth, and well-balanced. 👍 Highly Recommend: Chicken Katsu The fried chicken cutlet is excellent — golden and crispy outside, thick and juicy inside. The term “crispy outside, tender inside” was made for this! Paired with their curry sauce, it’s a winner. 🤔 Not My Favorite: Duck Curry This is their signature dish, but I didn’t quite get the hype. The duck itself isn’t gamey, but the combo of curry + duck felt a bit odd to me. Might appeal more to Western palates? Presentation is nice though. 📝 Final Thoughts: As a quick, casual meal, Chubby Curry is decent. But considering the price and the “Michelin-inspired” hype, I wasn’t blown away. If you’re already shopping in Beverly Hills and craving a good katsu curry, it’s worth a try. But I wouldn’t make a special trip just for it. 📍 Chubby Curry 🏠 225 S Beverly Dr, Beverly Hills, CA 90212 🅿️ Parking: Use the public garage across the street — first 2 hours free!
