Cincinnati Food Exploration | French Bistro Colette

March has been all about French cuisine for me šŸ˜‚ Finally visited this French bistro located in OTR, right where Zula used to be (taking a moment to miss Zula’s mussels 🄲). It’s close to Washington Park, and the snail sign at the entrance is quite eye-catching 🐌. We ordered their brioche! It had a rich buttery aroma, and one piece was more than enough. All their pastries are outsourced from my favorite Sebastian Bakehouse, so the quality is top-notch. But honestly, $4.50 for one piece of pre-meal bread isn’t the best value. Nicola’s pre-meal bread offers much better value, not to mention most restaurants serve complimentary bread of great quality. Considering they outsource, it’s understandable for cost control. This weekend’s special was white asparagus. I’ve always wondered if white asparagus is just peeled asparagus 🤨 If anyone knows, please enlighten me! This dish was pretty good, served with generous chunks of crab meat. The sauce was interesting—rich in flavor without the greasiness of cheese. My partner and I guessed there might be egg yolk in it. Feels like a dish that could easily be recreated at home. Will have to try it someday! Their classic burger šŸ” The bun is also from Sebastian Bakehouse—incredibly light and airy. Since we were sharing, they kindly cut it in half and plated it separately. We ordered the patty medium well, and you can customize it to your preference. Worth mentioning: their fries are crispy and not oily at all. We loved them! šŸŸ The highly recommended ravioli was filled with ricotta cheese. It was unique, and we really enjoyed it! A must-try for pasta and cheese lovers (though it’s a bit oily, but that’s part of the French dining experience, right? 🤣). For drinks šŸø, I ordered a non-alcoholic cocktail, which came with candied ginger—a fun touch! We didn’t have room for dessert this time, so that’s for next visit!
