Citywalk in the 9th Largest U.S. City

📍 Location: Downtown Dallas ⏰ Time: Before dark On my second business trip to Dallas, I stayed near the company’s suburban headquarters — about a 30-minute drive from downtown. I took advantage of the weekend to explore the city center and made sure to head back before dark (downtown can feel a bit uneasy after sunset). This time, having a rental car allowed me to experience local life more freely. 📸 Photo Spot Recommendations American Airlines Center – Home of the Dallas Mavericks. Outside, you’ll find a statue of Dirk Nowitzki, along with “Nowitzki Way” and “Victory Avenue” — a basketball fan’s delight 🏀. Giant Eyeball – A large eye sculpture on a CBD lawn (love it or not, it’s iconic!). The surrounding skyscrapers under weekend skies feel very American . 📷 Gear & Rental Tip I shot with my trusty Canon 760D + 18–135mm lens. For those on a budget or wanting to try different gear, I recommend renting through the app (also available as an Alipay mini-program). 📦 Wide selection of cameras and lenses 🚚 Delivery one day before rental period starts 💸 Affordable — as low as a few dollars per day 🛡️ Low or no deposit based on credit rating ⚠️ Safety Note Like many U.S. metros, downtown Dallas has a visible homeless presence (photo 6 shows a stark contrast). While Dallas feels safer than San Francisco, you’ll still encounter unhoused people under overpasses, near stations, or outside convenience stores. It’s not about lacking compassion — it’s about staying alert when passing through less familiar areas, especially alone. ✅ Advice: Travel with others if possible, and explore during daylight hours. Dallas’s downtown is walkable, visually striking, and full of contrasts — just keep your wits about you and your camera ready. 🌆📸 #US #Texas #Dallas
