Classic Charm, Hills & Waters: Memories of Guildford, UK
Having returned home for a while now, I deeply miss my time in the UK. Sharing these photos as a tribute—and a mini-guide for those still there! 1️⃣ Guildford Cathedral Adjacent to campus, seamlessly connected to the university. 2️⃣ University of Surrey Emblem The iconic symbol of my alma mater. 3️⃣ Guildford Station The main hub: fast trains to London, direct services to Reading, Portsmouth, and Gatwick Airport. Bonus: The quieter London Road Station (east end of High Street, near Stoke Park) serves slower London-bound trains. 4️⃣ High Street on New Year’s Eve From the station’s east exit: Friary Shopping Centre → North Street → High Street. 🚌 Bus Tips: All routes radiate from the town centre (easy navigation!). Arriva local buses (e.g., A/4/5 routes) accept student discounts. A Route: Faster alternative to Campus. 4/5 Routes: Ideal for Manor Park residents! 5️⃣ Guildford Castle Historic ruins surrounded by exquisite gardens—perfect for sunny-day lounging. 6️⃣ Stoke Park Vast lawns + manicured gardens (photo limit!). London Road entrance: Near London Road Station. North exit: Leads to sports complex → riverside nature reserve (clear lake + boardwalk). 7️⃣ The Mount Hillside My scenic shortcut between High Street, campus housing, and Manor Park. North slope: Panoramic town views. South slope (Apr-Jun): Must-see rapeseed flower fields! 🌼 8️⃣ Pewley Down Another picturesque hilltop—a different vibe from The Mount. 9️⃣ Newlands Corner Guildford’s natural masterpiece! 💚 Route: Through Guildford Golf Course (stunning greens!) → wild woodland. First visit: Navigated purely by instinct—worth every step! Return: Bus #32 (1/hour, no Sunday service) to town. #StudyUK #LifeInUK #UK #UniOfSurrey #UKTravel #GuildfordMemories #Surrey #BritishCountryside
