π Guildford, Near London
A great spot for mushroom picking and chestnut gathering. Late autumn is the perfect time for mushroom foraging. I took a weekend trip from London Waterloo station, hopped on a 45-minute train ride to Guildford, and headed straight to Chantry Wood. After a 30-minute walk, I entered the forest to begin my mushroom hunting adventure. π³ Venture down the forest paths, and you'll find mushrooms hiding in the shady, damp soil. Bring gloves and a bag, and give the mushrooms a little pat before picking them. This helps release the spores into the air, aiding in mushroom reproduction. The sound of tapping them is quite soothing~ Apart from mushroom picking, the forest also offers plenty of chestnuts to collect. Many on the ground are already just shells, perhaps taken by squirrels, but there are still plenty unopened ones. You can step on the prickly shells with your foot to crack them open and collect the chestnuts! ποΈ After leaving the forest, the shopping area near Guildford train station is also a great place to wander. Head to High Street and Friary Street for some shopping and dining to wrap up a wonderful day. #MushroomPicking #SeasonOfMushrooms #EnjoyNatureGifts #OutdoorNature #London #LondonHiking #LondonLife #EnglishAutumn #UKMushroomPicking
