This guide focuses on transportation and travel tips for visiting Puy de Dôme! 👣 Getting There from Lyon You can take a train or bus from Lyon: By Bus: Lyon Perrache ➡️ Clermont-Ferrand (Gare Routière) via FlixBus (~2 hours, €10 one way). 🚌 The FlixBus drops you off in the city center. To reach Puy de Dôme, take the Navette (shuttle bus) from Gare du Panoramique. By Train: If arriving by train, take the Navette from Parc SNCF station to the final stop, Gare du Panoramique des Dômes. ⏰ The Navette schedule is included at the end. ⚠️ Note: Timetables change periodically, so check the latest schedule before your trip to avoid missing the last shuttle back! Getting to the Summit Once you arrive, there are two ways to reach the top: 1️⃣ Scenic Train (Le Panoramique des Dômes) Takes about 15 minutes to reach the summit ⛰️. 💰 Fares (Oct 1 - Dec 31, 2024): Adult: €14.40 (one-way) / €17.20 (round-trip) Student: €13 (one-way) / €15.40 (round-trip, ID required) Family/group discounts available (check the official website). ⏰ The train schedule is included in the last photo. ⚠️ Note: Timings vary by season, so check the latest schedule online before your visit. 2️⃣ Hiking Takes 2-3 hours to ascend, depending on pace. Two main trails are available—the route map is posted opposite the Navette drop-off point (see last photo for details in French/English). Since we arrived late, we took the scenic train, but hiking is highly recommended for nature lovers! From the summit, you can enjoy breathtaking views of Clermont-Ferrand and the surrounding volcanic ranges 🌋.
