Cochon Restaurant | Time to Try Alligator Meat in New Orleans! 🐊🍴
It’s been a while since my last update—but I’m still working through my New Orleans food diary! This stop was all about Cajun-style Southern food, including the long-awaited try of alligator meat! 😋 Today’s Menu 🍜🥘🥗 📌 Wood Fired Oyster Roast A must-order + highly recommend! While waiting, I saw the gentleman next to us get this—the aroma was incredible, with a spicy scent reminiscent of Chinese barbecue. 🦪🔥 The oysters weren’t huge, but super fresh and flavorful! 📌 Alligator The texture of alligator is somewhere between chicken and fish. This fried version had no weird gamey taste—just crispy on the outside and firm yet tender inside. 🐊💥 If you’re curious, give it a try—it’s not as intimidating as it sounds! 📌 Cochon The braised pork tasted surprisingly similar to Chinese-style stews—rich and heavily seasoned (maybe that’s why it felt so comforting and delicious!). 🐖🍛 📌 Banana Pudding After all the savory dishes, something sweet! Surprisingly delicious—creamy, not overly sweet, with a lovely natural banana flavor. 🍌💛 Key Info ☎️📞💡 📍 Restaurant: Cochon Restaurant 📍 Address: 930 Tchoupitoulas St Ste A, New Orleans, LA 70130 📍 Avg. Price: 50–60 per person The restaurant’s decor is gorgeous too—very popular among visitors! The flavors are bold and Southern (a bit heavy on seasoning, but so tasty!). 👍 If you’re heading to NOLA, give this place a try! Have you tried alligator before? Or visited Cochon?
