Cologne | Kolumba Museum 🏛️
Designed by Peter Zumthor, the Kolumba Museum rises from the ruins of a Gothic church and is located just a street away from the Cologne Cathedral. The architect beautifully reintroduced the museum within the remnants of the original late-Gothic church, preserving the essence of the site as a tribute to history. The museum’s new façade combines modern blue bricks with the remaining walls of the ancient church. Through clever articulation and perforation, sunlight filters through the brickwork, casting ethereal shadows into the ground-floor gallery space. As the seasons change, the play of light and shadow evolves, just as time has passed over these historic ruins. 🎟️ Tickets: Student tickets are €5 🧣 Tip: The ruins area on the ground floor can be a bit chilly, so you might want to save this part for the end and put your coat back on. #Europe #Museum #Cologne #Zumthor
