Cologne | The Obscure Island 🏝

📍 Coron, Philippines 🇵🇭 Beauty itself is not enough to describe Coron 💐. It’s a sophisticated kind of beauty—the sort that makes you hold your breath when standing on the shore, where every casual snapshot looks like a National Geographic masterpiece. Is the sea here a palette knocked over by God? The shallows are a translucent mint green, fading into Tiffany blue as you go deeper, and further out, a profound peacock blue. When sunlight hits the water, it shimmers like scattered diamonds, dazzling to the eye ✨. Jump in for snorkeling, and the coral reefs are livelier than imagined—palm-sized tropical fish dart around you, starfish lie on the sand pretending to be stones, and if you’re lucky, you might bump into a slow-moving sea turtle. Reaching out, you can almost touch the gentleness of the water. My favorite is Kayangan Lake, called the “Mirror Lake” by locals. Paddling a kayak through the cave entrance in the karst cliffs, I was left speechless by the sight: the lake surface is as flat as a giant sapphire, reflecting the surrounding cliffs and greenery, as if time itself has been hit pause. Sitting by the lake waiting for sunset in the evening, the mountain shadows gradually take on a golden edge, and the evening breeze carries the scent of plants. In that moment, it truly feels like life is worth living. Then there are those secret beaches hidden deep in the islets. When the tide goes out, a crescent-shaped white sandbar emerges, soft underfoot like cotton. All around, there’s only the sound of waves hitting the rocks. Lie down under a coconut tree, sip freshly opened coconut water, and watch clouds drift slowly across the sky—this sense of relaxation is something you can never steal from the city. Coron’s beauty isn’t the kind that needs filters to stun; it’s a raw, life-giving beauty that brings peace of mind. It makes you realize that happiness can be this simple—just a stretch of sea, a breeze, a moment of eye contact with nature. I’ll come back. Next time, I’ll stay in a little beach hut, woken by sunrise each morning, and say goodnight to the stars 🌌. #IslandTravel #PhilippinesTravel #CoronIsland #GlassSea #HealingVibes
