Colombia Travelogue (5): Bucaramanga - The Non-Tourist Gem 🇨🇴
From San Gil to Medellín, we took a detour to Bucaramanga—Colombia’s 5th-largest city and definitely not a tourist hotspot. Zero travel blogs mention it... which made it oddly refreshing! Breakfast Chaos ☕ The street vendor rapid-fired the menu at me like a Spanish auctioneer 🗣️💨. After 3 failed attempts, I peeked into the kitchen and pointed at eggs 🥚—only to get a surprisingly delicious milk-based meat soup with poached eggs! (Fake it till you make it, right? 😂) Latin American street food? Greasy + sweet overload. Even coffee defaults to liquid candy unless you yell "¡Sin azúcar!" 🚫🍬. 6 AM Street Scenes 🌅 Coffee carts everywhere! ☕ Sold from thermoses for $0.15 USD (and way better than U.S. gas-station coffee!). Police squad goals 👮♂️💖: My husband noticed every officer looked like a telenovela star. Reality Check 🏙️ No touristy polish here: Trash-lined streets 🗑️ Our "fancy" high-rise overlooked slums—a stark reminder of Colombia’s wealth gap. Medieval vibes: Rich on hills, poor in valleys. Verdict: Raw, real, and unfiltered Colombia. #OffTheBeatenPath #ColombiaTravel #NoTouristsHere #TravelUnscripted
