My Unforgettable Adventure in Bucaramanga 🇨🇴✨
I've traveled to Colombia for work many times, and while locals always warn me about theft, I've only ever experienced warmth and kindness. But this trip to Parque Cerro del Santísimo took things to another level! A Scary (But Magical) Ride Up the Mountain 🚠🌙 The park, famous for its giant Christ statue ✝️, city views, and musical fountain, opens at 3 PM. I fell asleep in the taxi... and woke up on a pitch-dark, unpaved mountain road 🌑. No streetlights, just dense bamboo forests rustling beside me. 🎋 Arriving in the "Middle of Nowhere" 🏞️ At the entrance: No crowds, dim lights, just a guard pointing me toward a ticket booth. Paid 35,000 COP (card accepted!) and boarded a glass cable car—surrounded by total darkness and chirping insects. 🦗 At the Summit: A Hidden Wonder 🌟 The 37m-tall Christ statue (almost as tall as Rio's!) stood silently. The fountain show danced to lively Latin music 💃🎶—even with barely any tourists! Took an elevator up the statue (cash only! Had to scramble for pesos) for a breathtaking night view 🌆. The Kindness of Strangers ❤️ No signal = no Uber. Then, two locals—a guy and a bright-eyed girl—shared Wi-Fi and helped me call a cab. The driver, an older man, cheerfully pointed out landmarks 🚗💨, even bragging on the phone about driving a "Chino"! When I was short on cash, he trusted me to run up to my hotel room to get change—no hesitation. Lesson Learned (But No Regrets!) 🤷♂️ My colleagues gasped: "You got in a random car?! At least take a photo next time!" 📸 But the locals' genuine kindness made me feel safe. Still... maybe I’ll be slightly more cautious next time. 😅 #ColombiaAdventures #Bucaramanga #TravelTrust #UnexpectedKindness #ChristTheRedeemer
