Colombo Citywalk | A quick tour of yet another rather boring capital

😍😍A Citywalk in Colombo is no easy feat. The sweltering heat and thick exhaust fumes from vehicles are suffocating, especially in the old town where crowds are packed tightly—unbearably so.🍑 🐾East Asian faces stand out easily, drawing stares. One day in Colombo is more than enough; you can cover most urban attractions and cultural spots.🐟 Colombo is mainly divided into two areas:🌩️ 1. Pettah Market and Colonial Architecture Area 📍 Pettah Market: A maze of streets filled with spices, saris, gold jewelry, and handicrafts. When tired, grab a 6-rupee fruit juice from a roadside stall—though the sugar content is practically off the charts.🙈🙈 📍 Jami-Ul-Alfar Mosque (Red Mosque): Also in this area, its Gothic spires paired with red-and-white stripes make it the "least mosque-like mosque." However, its opening hours are unpredictable—we failed to get in twice.😍😍 2. National Museum Area👉👈 📍 Colombo National Museum: Perfect for escaping the midday heat. While its collection isn’t extensive, it’s a good place to learn about the country.🏘️🏘️ Walk through Viharamahadevi Park (Colombo’s largest green space) to see the 📍 Town Hall (resembling a small White House) and📍 Paradise Road, a famous souvenir shop. Further north lies📍 Gangaramaya Temple: A Buddhist temple blending Sri Lankan, Thai, and Chinese styles, with an impressive wall of bronze Buddhas and stupas. 🛖 The famous📍 Seema Malaka (Water Temple) is nearby, opposite one of Colombo’s largest shopping malls.✨ In the evening, head to📍 Galle Face Green to watch the sunset. At night, it fills with night markets, but the food is quite disappointing. Better to grab a meal at One Galle Face, Colombo’s most upscale mall.🎁🎁 #WorldHeritageCity#SriLanka#SriLankaTravel
