Come to Dallas—do NOT miss the wildlife center!

🔥Just outside the city sits Fossil Rim Wildlife Center, a huge conservation park. We paid $29.95 per person for the self-drive tour, picked up a feed bag and animal guide at the gate, and headed up the hill to meet the residents. If you keep it slow (10–15 mph) and stay patient, herds of deer and antelope will trot right up for snacks. You’ll score perfect close-ups—see Exhibit A. The park is massive; it took us about two hours, even with a break at the ridge. First came fallow deer, blackbuck, addax, zebra, and giraffe. By the end we’d crossed every animal off the guide. Most critters are gentle. The only “diva” was the ostrich near the exit. We’d saved extra pellets for her, but she locked onto our brown feed bag like a heat-seeking missile and lunged into the car. No teeth, but that beak still delivered a spicy peck. 🔥🌶️🌶️ 🐙A ranger later told us an ostrich’s eye is huge, but its brain is cherry-sized, so anything red looks edible. (Pro tip: skip the red shirt.) Thank goodness for the overcast sky—everyone was active and photogenic. If you’re visiting Dallas, this is a must-do. #TexasLife #DallasDayTrip #CloseEncounters #WildlifeAdventure
