Countdown Day 105: An Afternoon Feeding Squirrels by the Sea 🐿️

I’ve officially finished my PhD… and now there are only 105 days left before I leave California. I’m really going to miss this place 😢 This weekend, I drove along Highway 1 — weaving through layers of clouds that felt straight out of a comic book ☁️✨ For the first time, I noticed how beautifully layered the ocean here can be: deep blue, light turquoise, and white crashing waves 🌊 The squirrels here are something else — bold, curious, and not shy to ask for snacks! I met two little boys selling cookies for $2 a bag. “The squirrels can eat these,” they said. So I bought a bag and became the squirrels’ favorite human of the day 😂 Some were fearless — climbing right onto my legs, paws out, like “Hey, where’s my cookie??” Some were shy — grabbing a piece and darting away 🏃‍♂️💨 And then there were the greedy ones — stuffing cookies into their cheeks, not eating them, but burying them secretly in the sand 🗿❤️ I wonder if they’ll ever find them again… 📍 Lovers Point Park, Monterey #OceanVibes #CaliforniaLife #HealingViews #GoodbyeCA #PhDLife #Highway1 #SquirrelFriends #MontereyMemories
