Creative Fusion Mexican Cuisine in the Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) Area
For Valentine’s Day, I visited Don Artemio, a Fort Worth Mexican restaurant, to try their special Valentine’s Day tasting menu—the same place I previously recommended for its fried cactus! The four-course menu was unique and creative, definitely worth the visit! Each table received a red 🌹 and a handwritten card from the owner (though it was in Spanish, which I couldn’t understand at all, lol), really setting the mood. 🌹The menu was $95 per person. The first course included ceviche and a bass taco. The ceviche featured lime-marinated sea bass and squid, which was very tangy and fresh. The bass taco was a common fried sea bass taco. Both dishes were good but not particularly surprising. The second course was a mix of surprises and shocks. 😂 One was a bicolored corn soup called tamal soup, and the other was a salad. Let’s talk about the salad first—it was watercress with vinaigrette, but it also had bacon and strawberry slices. The strawberries were the sweetest I’ve ever tasted in the U.S., but can you imagine how strange it feels to have such sweet strawberries with bacon and vinaigrette? Hahaha! It’s the kind of dish that people either love or think the chef has gone crazy. 🍝The other dish was corn soup made in the shape of a yin-yang symbol. For someone who loves thick, creamy soups, this was a delightful surprise. The dual colors featured regular corn on one side and black corn on the other. #DallasFood #DallasLife #HiddenGemRestaurant #AroundDallas #RestaurantAdventures
