Crossing the Heartland | US Road Trip Day 5 – Part 1
🌲 A Glass Chapel Hidden in the Woods | Stepping into a Hayao Miyazaki Frame 🎞️ After leaving Texas, we drove east into Arkansas—a often overlooked "hidden gem" of a state that offered us a dreamlike experience of connecting closely with nature. ✨ A Quiet Miracle in the Glass Forest: The Chapel in Hot Springs We woke up early and headed into the woods north of Hot Springs, Arkansas, in search of Anthony Chapel—a church tucked deep within the forest. As we walked through the pine-covered path and caught sight of the entirely glass structure towering among the trees, I literally held my breath. The trees were its walls; sunlight filtered through leaves and glass, creating dappled shadows that felt like stepping into the sacred forest of Princess Mononoke. There are no crosses nor extravagant decorations—only minimalist lines blending into nature. Sitting on one of the wooden benches, accompanied only by the sound of wind and birdsong, I felt a deep sense of peace. 📸 This place is absolutely perfect for taking soft, fresh, K-drama style travel photos! 🏛️ Arriving in Little Rock, the Capital of Arkansas In the afternoon, we drove a little over an hour to Little Rock, the state capital of Arkansas. Compared to the fairy-tale morning forest, the city offered a relaxed and easy-going vibe. Our first stop was the majestic Arkansas State Capitol. Like most state capitols, it features a white dome resembling the U.S. Capitol. Strolling across the lawn outside, with fountains spraying in the distance, the city seemed to retain a slower, old-American leisure culture. 📍 Must-Visit Spots in Little Rock: 🏛️ 【State Capitol】Free entry, perfect for history and politics enthusiasts 🌉 【Big Dam Bridge】The longest bridge in the U.S. exclusively for pedestrians and cyclists—great for city views! 🎨 【River Market District】A artsy neighborhood filled with small shops, murals, and restaurants~ In Little Rock, I didn’t find the glamour of a big city, but I discovered another kind of American spirit: simple, quiet, and living in harmony with nature.
