NY Stony Brook | Pho Near SBU！！ 🍜

I’ve tried three pho places around here—all ordered Pho Bo Vien so I could try all the meats! 1️⃣ Vietnamese Phở & Grill I’ve been here three or four times already 👏 Walking distance from campus 🚶‍♀️—right across from the train station Nice decor, cute menu—doesn’t feel cheap or dated 🧡 Perfectly hides the fact that the owner might be Chinese Appetizer recommendation: Viet Wings —so good! 🍗 I’m not a big veggie person, so no strong opinion on the greens in 🥬 Saigon Steamed Bear Clam was a bit salty, but maybe that’s how it’s supposed to be? The broth with garlic bread was HEAVEN… 🧄🍞 Unfortunately: I found sand in the clams 🥹, We ordered extra garlic bread—around $4 per slice? 💸 My wallet cried when the bill came… so be careful adding off-menu items! 2️⃣ Lâu Vietnamese This one hasn’t been open too long, I think. When we walked in, the hostess asked where we wanted to sit. I said booth, but then the owner (maybe?) guided us to a small table instead… kinda confusing and a awkward start 😅 Their signature dish is the Bone Marrow 🦴 I love bone marrow—usually in pork bone soup—so I ordered it even though I knew it was overpriced and gimmicky. Verdict: Greasy, just-okay flavor. Try once for the experience 🫤 Caramelized Pork Ribs—tasty and goes great with rice! 🍚 Portion is enough for two (if you’re light eaters). Prices are on Google Maps 📍 I heard they have affordable lunch specials—would love to hear if anyone has tried them! 🙏 3️⃣ Pho Fans Located in a small plaza in Smithtown—lots of parking 🅿️ The owner also runs a slightly upscale Japanese restaurant in the same plaza 🍣 Back to the pho—the bowl is huge here! It feels like you’re hunting for noodles in a sea of soup 🍜🔍 But honestly, the portion is similar to the other two.
