Route 🚴: Mulholland Dr spans from just west of Highway 405 eastward to Highway 101. A convenient starting and ending point can be set near LAFD Station 109 on the western end and LAFD Station 76 on the eastern end. The full route is approximately 23+ miles with an elevation gain of 2,100+ feet. Parking 🅿️: Free street parking is available along many of the smaller intersecting roads. For example, try Corda Dr on the western section or Outpost Cove Dr on the eastern end. Elevation 🚵♂️: The entire 20+ mile route consists of continuous rolling hills—climb after climb and descent after descent. It’s a perfect literal example of “rolling hills” and offers great training for building climbing stamina and power. Lane Usage ⚠️: Cyclists often ride on the shoulder or take the full lane, especially during downhill segments on the winding mountain sections where maintaining speed and control is crucial. There are usually plenty of other riders on the route, and most drivers are respectful and aware. Scenery 🏞️: There are numerous viewpoints along the way where you can stop to enjoy the landscape.
