Dallas:Mr Max Izakaya Restaurant
❤️On a whim last Saturday, I headed to Mr Max in Richardson. From my previous experience at the original location, if you want to get in the first seating, you need to arrive at least twenty minutes early. Considering it was Saturday, I got there at 4:30 p.m. By the time the doors opened in ten minutes, quite a few people had already lined up. Those who arrived later didn't make it in. Fortunately, there was a shaded area on the side, so the waiting conditions weren't too bad haha. ✅I remember the old location for its super-fast service; they were very diligent about clearing tables and closing the bills. This time, it was slower, probably because the first batch included two large tables. In any case, all the procedures were quite slow. By the time those two large tables finished, our dishes still hadn't all arrived... Here are the dishes in the order they were served, a bit jumbled. 🍱 Grilled Mackerel Half a piece of grilled fish, with very light salt flavor, basically just the taste of the fish itself. It came with ginger slices and daikon shavings. I preferred the ginger slices, which had a sweet undertone. 🍱 Shrimp Tempura Five shrimp, which were better than I remembered. The shrimp meat was plump, and the batter was very thin, not greasy at all when eaten. The dipping sauce also added points. 🍱 Clams Steamed with Sake Less than twenty clams in total, which basically had no distinct flavor, like they were boiled in plain water. But the meat was fresh, so I ate them mainly for the texture. 🍱 Takoyaki Seven octopus balls, which almost every table ordered, at a normal level. 🍱 Kobe Beef Skewers Two small skewers of grilled beef slices, served with Japanese barbecue sauce. They tasted a bit bitter, I wonder if it was due to other seasonings on the meat or if they were slightly overcooked. 🍱 Homemade Japanese Curry I always like to order this at Japanese restaurants. After all the fancy dishes that don't fill you up, you have to rely on the rice. This curry had some meat chunks in it and tasted very good. It was only $7.5 for this portion, so I can't ask for more. #DallasFood #DallasLife #DallasJapaneseFood #JapaneseRestaurant
