Dallas | Japanese Cuisine Mr. Max Izakaya ๐Ÿฎ

Mr. Max Izakaya Restaurant ๐Ÿ“ 3028 N Belt Line Rd, Irving, TX 75062 One of the top 100 must-visit restaurants in the U.S. according to Yelp! ๐Ÿ”ฅ I came to Dallas to pick up Popeyes, the little cat ๐Ÿฑ. Usually, thereโ€™s a three-hour wait during peak dining hours, but I arrived at 8:30 pm, just before closing time, and there was no wait at all! I absolutely love the atmosphere of this izakaya. The small space features tatami mats and a bar area ๐Ÿป. The service is excellent, and the dishes are served quickly! ๐Ÿฑ Must-Try Dishes: Takoyaki (Octopus Balls) ๐Ÿ™ These are amazing! The octopus balls come on a hot iron plate, and they are so much better than those at many other Japanese restaurants. 5-Kind Sashimi ๐ŸŸ The sweet shrimp ๐Ÿฆ is super fresh, and the other varieties include salmon, tuna, and octopus. Thereโ€™s no fishy smell at all. Taiwan Ramen ๐Ÿœ Itโ€™s really spicy, but also really refreshing. Homemade Custard Pudding ๐Ÿฎ The caramel pudding is deliciousโ€” not overly sweet and melts in your mouth. ๐Ÿฑ Dishes to Try: Seasonal Sushi I happened to catch the restaurant serving sea urchin and A5 Wagyu. The sea urchin was surprisingly sweet. Shrimp & Vegetable Tempura ๐Ÿ” The batter is a bit thick, but the tempura is crispy. Grilled Beef Tongue ๐Ÿ– Itโ€™s just okayโ€”a thin slice with average cooking. It was a bit tough. I heard that the new branch in Richardson is also packed, but I still recommend the original location in Irving! This is my dream izakaya for enjoying drinks with friends. #food #sashimi #izakaya #Dallas #DallasLife #Texas #JapaneseCuisine #travel
