Dallas | Okonomiyaki at Chinchikurin
đźThis was my first time trying Okonomiyaki (Japanese savory pancake), and driven by curiosity, I ordered both the crispy and soft versions. The crispy one was definitely the winner! It was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, with an interesting texture. đ©”However, the flavor was quite novel to me. I wouldnât say I loved it, but I also didnât dislike it. It was more like, âHmm... glad I tried it.â The side dishes were surprisingly good, especially the takoyaki (octopus balls), fried oysters, and beef tongue. The beef tongue was incredibly tender! đBut I didnât enjoy their Dan Dan noodles... They reminded me a bit of hot dry noodles, but they were too greasy. I couldnât get through more than a few bites, so I wouldnât recommend them. Overall, the experience was okay, but there wasnât anything particularly impressive. When it comes to Japanese snacks, I still prefer Mr. Max! đ·At first, I thought it would be like the Okonomiyaki from Crayon Shin - chan (a Japanese cartoon), but when I got there, I found out it actually has noodles at the bottom. You can choose between crispy noodles and soft noodles. If you donât have strong teeth, Iâd recommend going for the soft ones.
