Dallas | Tatsu Dallas Japanese Cuisine

📍 3309 Elm St ste 120, in the Deep Ellum district. 🧑‍🍳 Tatsu is a restaurant opened by Tatsuya Sekiguchi, who was the head chef at the New York Michelin-starred restaurant Sushi Yasuda for ten years. So, it has quite a big reputation. 🎫 Reservations can be made on Tock. It seems relatively easy to book on weekdays. I managed to get a reservation about five days in advance. 💰 You have to pay when you make the reservation. The Omakase is $185 per person, with an 18% gratuity. For two people, including taxes, it came to $478. We ordered drinks on-site, a glass of rosé and a glass of sake for $50, bringing the total to $528. 📧 They sent an email in advance to ask about any allergies or dietary restrictions. I listed quite a few: I don't eat chewy things like octopus, squid, or clams, and I don't eat mackerel or lean tuna. They did customize the menu for me throughout the meal, and I felt like about half of it was not from the standard menu. I just don't eat surf clam, geoduck, and the like, but I ended up shooting myself in the foot by skipping scallop and sea urchin as well. 🍽️ The menu for the day included three appetizers, 14 pieces of sushi, a bowl of miso soup, a maki roll, a tamago (Japanese omelette), and an ice cream dessert. I thought the portion size was just right. If it hadn't been enough, we could have ordered a few à la carte items at the end. #JapaneseCuisine #RestaurantReview #LifeInNorthAmerica #Dallas #EatingDrinkingFun #WeekendAdventures
