Dallas | Tei-An, Likely a One-Time Visit

📍 1722 Routh St Suite 110, Dallas Tei-An and Tei Robata Bar are owned by the same person, but Tei-An has a somewhat unclear style. It seems to have originated with soba noodles? The menu is overwhelmingly extensive, which can be a bit confusing. 📝 Reservations on Tock cost just $20 per person, which is incredibly convenient. Dining reservations in Dallas are so easy... you can usually book a few days in advance. In Seattle, for restaurants of even moderate caliber, you often need to set an alarm for the early morning to secure a reservation, and it’s common to end up booking two months in advance. It’s quite frustrating. The daily special menu is somewhat interesting, as it lists the current temperatures in both Dallas and Tokyo. There’s also a section featuring fish sourced from Toyosu Market, claiming to be "less than 20 hours from Toyosu Market." Toyosu Market is the new and upgraded Tsukiji Market, now the largest fish market in Tokyo. It’s a bit disappointing that the fish from Toyosu Market were rather ordinary. We ordered: 1️⃣ All the fish from Toyosu Market for the day, except mackerel, including snapper, seabass, fluke, yellowtail, shad, striped jack, and abalone. It was my first time trying abalone sushi. 2️⃣ From the Chef’s Selection, we chose 🇪🇸 toro, Ōshima bluefin tuna, and salmon. 3️⃣ For appetizers, we had white seaweed salad (which is actually wood ear mushrooms), Soba Agedashi Tofu, and Ankimo. #JapaneseCuisine #RestaurantReview #LifeInNorthAmerica #Dallas #FoodAndFun #WeekendExploration
