Dallas Day-Trip: Waco + Temple Mini-Adventure
💒Temple Leg • Temple Buc-ee’s – obligatory beaver-stop for snacks & clean restrooms. • Temple Railroad & Heritage Museum – housed in the historic Santa Fe Depot. Exhibits trace the Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe (ATSF) railway timeline: original control panels, uniforms, lanterns, the full evolution of rail travel. Kids can hunt for hidden icons inside. Outside, retired locomotives are open to climb (watch the steep steps). 🥹Waco Leg • Lunch: Ocean Buffet – budget-friendly spread featuring fresh oysters (!), fried crab, salt-pepper shrimp, and hibachi steak. They even import toys from China; the kids spotted motorized animals and I “tearfully” dropped another $14 for two squeaky, walking creatures. 😍 • Chuck E. Cheese Waco – quick membership freebie: an hour of games and free cotton-candy ice cream. The location is tiny, so no pics. • Mayborn Museum Complex – repeat visit because it’s just that good. Updates include a new religion exhibit, expanded toddler play zone, “life simulation” kids’ area, Waco history & wildlife halls, plus the upstairs science-astronomy lab.
