Dallas Food Exploration | Turan Uyghur Kitchen
Today I finally got to visit! 🍑We arrived around 11:40 a.m. and waited for about 20 minutes. The owner and waitstaff were very friendly. The bottled water was complimentary. Since the restaurant just opened, they only had four items on the menu: Samsa (baked pastries), Xinjiang Big Plate Chicken, Lamb Leg Hand-Rice, King Noodles, and yogurt. We ordered everything except for the King Noodles, and the dishes came out pretty quickly. 🥓Samsa: Two pieces per serving (around $7). They weren't piping hot when served, but they were still very flaky. It was my first time trying them, and they were filled with plenty of mutton. I really enjoyed them and will definitely order again! 🍅Xinjiang Big Plate Chicken: You can order a small portion (for over $20) or a large one, and you can also add noodles. The flavor was quite strong, savory and spicy! Both the potatoes and chicken were soaked in the flavorful sauce. We couldn't finish it all and took the leftovers home to reheat for dinner. The taste got a bit salty towards the end. The only downside was that the noodles weren't handmade. 🧀️Lamb Leg Hand-Rice: $16 for a large lamb leg, and the meat was very tender. We cut the lamb into pieces and mixed it with the rice. This dish was quite light in flavor, and you could taste the subtle sweetness of the shredded carrots. It also came with a serving of sweetened yogurt. The waiter said that if you get tired the of rich flavors, taking a bite of yogurt makes it even better! Yogurt: Around $4. It tasted very similar to the yogurt back home, a bit more sour than the yogurt that came with the lamb leg dish, but still delicious! I'll definitely come back here! I was quite disappointed with Zhu Yuan, but every dish here was really tasty (I haven't had authentic Xinjiang cuisine before, so I can't say for sure how authentic it is)! Plus, it's affordable and good value for money. Two people could have two meals. I'm looking forward to trying more dishes when the full menu is available! #Dallas Food #Food Exploration
