Dallas Japanese Cuisine: Nikugen ❤️ Mini Grill

Nikugen is a well-known Japanese restaurant in Dallas that has been around for a while. It’s a bit of a hybrid between a sushi restaurant and an izakaya, offering more than just high-end sashimi. This place specializes in unique appetizers and noodle dishes. ❤️ Nikugen Steak Sushi & Ramen 4710 Preston Rd #300, Frisco, TX 75034 Two standout features of this restaurant are the mini grill for cooking steak and the spicy cream udon noodles. While their ramen is also popular, once you’ve tried the udon, you might not want to go back to ramen! 🤩 One pleasant surprise was their Salmon Tower, similar to the Ahi Tower found in other restaurants but with salmon instead of tuna. The dish is actually called Tuna/Salmon/Crab Tower, and you can choose your preferred protein. This is a great option for me since I prefer salmon, but most other places only offer tuna. It’s funny how there hasn’t been more variety in this dish over the years. 😂 👍 The mini grill steak is a must-try. At lunch, you can order a smaller portion, but at dinner, only the larger portion is available, so be prepared for a hearty serving. The steak comes with a thin layer of breading on the outside, which is crispy without being heavy or greasy. Cook it briefly on the mini grill, flipping it once, and it’s perfect at around medium-rare to medium. #DallasExploration #DallasLife #DallasFood #NorthAmericanLife #JapaneseNoodles
