Dallas Pho Bac Vietnamese Noodle Soup

❤️I finally got to try this highly anticipated Pho place—Phở Bắc, located in Richardson. I visited at 3 PM on a Saturday afternoon, and the restaurant was still bustling with customers, a mix of Asian and non-Asian faces. The waitstaff were busy running around. As soon as we sat down, we were asked, “Ready to order?” Since Pho is their signature dish, I ordered a small bowl with raw beef and beef meatballs. 🥲Even though I wasn’t very hungry, I wanted to try a bit more, so I added an order of fried spring rolls. The waiter was quite nice, patiently answering all my questions and even recommended the No. 1 spring rolls, saying they were fried, so I took his advice. ☺️As a relatively new Pho enthusiast, I thought it was decent overall but not particularly amazing, maybe a 75 out of 100. The broth seemed to be made from simmered beef bones, with no obvious signs of “technology and hard work” (a reference to artificial flavor enhancers). The beef was fresh, but the slicing was quite inconsistent—irregular sizes and all lean meat. The beef meatballs were scarce, with only one or two pieces, and the taste was just average. As for the fried spring rolls, the skin was far from crispy, instead being soft and disappointing. Although they were hot, they tasted more like they had been microwaved, though the flavor was still passable. 😂When paying, you have to take your receipt to the front desk yourself. I noticed a sign at the entrance stating that they would be open until 3 PM on Christmas Day—quite dedicated. Next time, I plan to try their pig’s foot noodle soup to see if there’s any surprise and then compare it with Pho Tay Do.
