Dallas Restaurant Exploration | Mercat Bistro
🚪Mercat Bistro 📍2550 Harry Hines Blvd Harwood, Dallas TX 75201 🔍This French bistro is located in the heart of Dallas, nestled in the middle of a triangular intersection. It's a bit hidden and not that easy to find. I even took a wrong turn when driving there. 🔍From the outside, it feels like you're in Paris. The bright windows and the small - sized shop, divided into indoor and outdoor dining areas. The waitstaff will proactively ask you which area you'd like to dine in. Since it was a special occasion when I made the reservation, the restaurant gifted us two glasses of wine. The glasses were very aesthetically pleasing, and the wine had a floral aroma that was very refreshing to drink. 🔍I have to make a small complaint about the menu. It doesn't have much of a French feel. It's more like Texas - style French cuisine. Maybe it's because of the Southern United States influence, but the dishes were all very salty, which made me not enjoy dining outside. I ordered the Farm Salad, Half Dozen oysters, and the classic French dish confit de canard. "Confit" means "preserved" in French, and the technique of "confit" originated in the Gascony region of southwestern France. It's meant to seal food in oil, isolating it from air to prevent spoilage. However, it was just a bit too greasy. I had to drink several cups of raw Pu - erh tea when I got back. I also ordered pan - seared salmon, which was just average and not particularly impressive. 🔍 #Dallas life #Dallas restaurant exploration #French cuisine
