Dallas Shoyo Review | This Place is So Hard to Get a Reservation!
✨Yesterday, I visited Shoyo, Dallas' hardest-to-book Omakase, for my birthday. I booked the 8:15 PM session, which lasted about two hours (ended around 10:00 PM). Reservations require a direct payment of $175 per person. 🌳This Omakase incorporates some fusion elements. The head chef is Japanese, and the sous-chef is Korean. 🌿The dining room has 12 seats, with three chefs working together to prepare and serve sushi simultaneously. The initial explanations were a bit noisy because three waiters would explain each dish together to ensure everyone could hear, which was a bit loud and somewhat disrupted the intimate atmosphere. It would be better if the waiters could stagger their explanations a bit. 🖼️The appetizer was a simple dish of squid with vegetables, nothing extraordinary. The second course was sashimi: baby mackerel with truffle-flavored caviar was quite nice, while the king salmon with yuzu mustard was not to my taste; it reminded me of IKEA's smoked salmon with mustard. 🚤During the sushi course, there were occasional hot dishes interspersed. The hot dishes and salad were average, but the eel was quite delicious. I particularly enjoyed and found unique the following combinations: otoro with caviar, white fish with shiso leaf, belt fish with radish, sweet shrimp, and white trout with kelp. The barracuda with egg powder was a bit fishy, and the uni with caviar had good texture but was too salty, overpowering the flavor of the uni. The tamago was also on the sweet side. The matcha cheesecake was delicious😋 #DallasCuisine #DallasSushi #Dallas
