Dallas Surroundings | Caddo Lake 🚣 Who Says Texas Has No Autumn 🍂

A 3.5-hour drive from Fort Worth ➡️ Tyler ➡️ Jefferson ➡️ Caddo Lake ➡️ all the way to Shreveport, LA 📒 Main Quest 🚣‍♂️ Boat tours need to be booked in advance ☎️ Just search for “caddo lake tour” on the map and call each one to inquire. These 8-person boats are priced between $30-$40 per person, half price for kids. Book with whichever has availability; the tours are about 1-1.5 hours long. If you’re up for a challenge, you can also book kayaks/powerboats. We booked with Johnson’s Ranch Marina, $40 for adults,$20 for kids. Reserve with a card in advance and pay cash after the tour. Tips are given separately to the captain, who was enthusiastic and fun, and the fellow boaters also provided a lot of emotional value. It rained all last weekend, and I never expected it to be so full on a rainy weekend. Only this place had availability, and the 5 PM sunset tour was completely booked, so make sure to book in advance! Fortunately, it was cool on the lake due to the overcast and rain, but it got very sunny in the last 5 minutes. 📒 Passed by the Tyler Rose Garden, worth a look if you’re in the area. 📒 Dining 🍽️ The nearby towns of Jefferson and Marshall are both nice. We went to Jefferson, which is a sister city to New Orleans. There’s jazz at night and it’s lively with plenty of food options. The restaurants are very unique. We went to an old-money style Haywood and a Southern fusion McGarity’s. 📒 Accommodation 🏨 Since we had a kid and needed comprehensive facilities, we skipped the very popular lake cabins and chose an Airbnb in the small town of Shreveport, Louisiana. It was very picturesque 📷 and cozy on a rainy day. It’s half an hour from the lake, and the town has many places suitable for kids to play, and the food is delicious. What a pleasant surprise! #MakeTheMostOfEveryWeekend #DallasSurroundings #caddolake #TexasFairylakeCaddo #TravelingWithKids #TexasTravel #OffTheBeatenPath #WorthRecommendingAccommodation #BeautifulSceneryOnTheJourney
