DC Solo Dining - Le Diplomate 🥩
After several gloomy weekends, DC finally saw the sun! A beautiful day must start with a Brunch. 🌞 Ambiance (9.5/10) Located in Logan Circle, Le Diplomate blends seamlessly with the church exterior. Inside, it has the romantic and delicate charm of a Parisian bistro, while outside, it offers the perfect spot to bask in the spring sunshine and enjoy the street view. If you’re not a fan of the breeze, there are also sunroom and tented options – something for everyone! 🌸 Service (9/10) Despite its popularity, the large outdoor dining area means you almost never need a reservation during this season – just walk in! The service is top-notch, with clear roles and professionalism. Highly recommended! 👍 Taste Pre-meal Bread (9/10) The walnut bread is incredibly delicious! I was afraid of over-ordering, so I didn’t eat too much and ended up taking some home. 🥪 ½ Chilled Lobster (9.5/10) I was blown away the first time I tried it! The lobster is fresh, sweet, and chewy – highly recommended! The quality remains consistent on my second visit. 🦞 Scallop Crudo (7.5/10) The scallop sashimi with cucumber and wasabi sauce is quite good. 🦪 Assorted Oysters (7/10) They’re decent, but not particularly large or fresh. Nothing special, so I wouldn’t recommend them. If you’re dining in a group and love seafood, the platter is a good idea – $125 for a small portion with all the seafood. I was almost tempted to order it (and even did, but quickly changed my mind)! 🦪 Foie Gras Parfait (9.5/10) Another must-try appetizer! The foie gras mousse is rich and smooth, paired perfectly with jam and warm, crispy bread. Even though I’m not usually a bread lover, I couldn’t resist their bread here. 🍔 Duck Sarladaise (6.5/10) The duck is shredded and cooked with potatoes mashed into a puree, topped with a sunny-side-up egg. It’s flavorful but a bit salty. Maybe I was just too full, but I found it average and ended up taking most of it home. 🍗 Profiteroles (10/10) The star of the house! If I could only have one dish here, this would be it. The profiteroles are soft and fluffy, filled with vanilla ice cream, topped with warm, slightly bitter dark chocolate hazelnut sauce, and garnished with banana slices. The combination of hot and cold, and the rich layers, make this dessert incredibly satisfying and not overly sweet. I devoured four of them even though I was already full from the duck! 🍔 Price I ordered a bit too much today – $125 (before tax). For a group, it’s not expensive. Google suggests a price range of $50-$100, and it’s definitely worth it! 💰 Weekend Special There’s also a Full Brunch option with 🥚-related dishes available on weekends! 🥚 #DMVFoodie #DCFrenchCuisine
