Detroit Exploring a street seafood restaurant 🐟

Streetside Seafood (Birmingham, MI) – A Seafood Lover’s Gem Near Detroit! 🩞 For anyone craving fresh, flavorful seafood near Detroit, Streetside Seafood is a total must-visit! It’s about a 1-hour drive from Ann Arbor, 15 minutes from Hmart, and super close to Troy—plus, it’s on a charming, upscale street (think “nice neighborhood vibes”) with plenty to explore nearby. As soon as I saw “seafood” in the name, I knew I had to go
and that silly, cute fish decor by the entrance just made me even more excited! Here’s why it’s worth the drive 🐟 ✹ Location & First Impressions: Easy to Reach, Charming Vibe Getting There: 273 Pierce St, Birmingham, MI 48009. Perfect if you’re coming from Ann Arbor, Troy, or Detroit—no crazy detours, just a straightforward drive. The Vibe: The area feels upscale but welcoming, and the restaurant’s exterior (with that adorable fish statue!) sets a fun, laid-back tone. It’s the kind of spot you could linger at after eating, wandering the nearby streets. đŸ„– Pre-Meal Bread: Garlic Butter Cheese Perfection (4/5 Stars!) Let’s start with the basics: the (pre-meal bread) is excellent. Slathered with garlic butter and melted cheese, it’s warm, fragrant, and so satisfying—I’m a total pre-meal bread fan, and this one easily gets 4 stars. To me, a restaurant that nails bread is already off to a great start! 🩞 Star Starters: Lobster Bisque & Oysters (Skip the Tuna Tartare!) We tried three appetizers, and two were absolute hits: Lobster Bisque: Hands down, one of the best lobster bisques I’ve ever had—easily in my top 3! It’s rich, creamy, and packed with real lobster flavor, no artificial aftertaste. Warm, comforting, and totally worth ordering. Oyster Rockefeller: Yum! These oysters are topped with Parmesan cheese, bacon, and spinach—super savory and flavorful. The oyster’s natural taste gets a little overshadowed by the toppings, but honestly? It still works—every bite is crispy, cheesy, and delicious. Tuna Tartare: The only miss of the night. It’s just “meh”—the tuna itself doesn’t have that bright, fresh flavor, and it lacks depth. Save your money and order the oysters or bisque instead! 🐠 Mains: Whitefish with Crab Topping = Must-Order! When it comes to mains, one dish stands out above the rest: Oven-Roasted Whitefish + Crab Topping: Order this! The whitefish is tender, flaky, and cooked perfectly, but the crab topping is the star—it adds a sweet, briny kick that takes the fish to the next level. Even the side of baby potatoes is delicious—creamy and well-seasoned. SautĂ©ed Walleye: Solid, but not mind-blowing (7.5/10). The fish is fresh and tasty, but it doesn’t have that “wow” factor. The side dishes here are also just okay—nothing to write home about. #MichiganFoodHunt #MichiganFood #DetroitFoodHunt #SeafoodLovers #BirminghamMIFood
