Dining Solo at Water Grill SD

On the last day of NeurIPS, I treated myself to a lavish dinner. I headed to Water Grill San Diego alone and enjoyed a full seafood journey in West Coast style. 🍸 Margarita Verde ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Highly recommended by ChatGPT 🙂‍↔️. Layers of cucumber, lime, basil, and a hint of spiciness made the flavor profile rich, but the alcohol taste was quite strong. It reminded me of Bloody Mary (which once made me throw up), so I’d say it’s not my cup of tea. 🦪 Half Dozen Kumamoto Oysters ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Small in size, clean and fresh with a noticeable creamy flavor. I tried all four condiments, and my favorite was horseradish—similar to wasabi but less pungent. Second best was eating them plain. 🍞 Bread ⭐️⭐️ Complimentary bread and butter to fill the stomach between appetizers and the main course. I really liked the butter—its creamy flavor was clean and not greasy. 🐟 Black Cod ⭐️⭐️⭐️ The cod had excellent texture and a rich, fresh taste. I enjoyed the broth and noodles underneath, which had a hint of sesame oil, a spicy kick from fresh chili, and the refreshing crispness of cucumber—light and not greasy. The black cod itself was mild in flavor, but still good. 🦪 Honeymoon Oyster ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Highly recommended in many posts, so I added one to try at the end. The initial taste was the oyster’s freshness, followed by the savory burst of various fish roe, along with hints of egg yolk and sea urchin 🫠. I’m glad I added this at the end—no regrets. Total bill: $112, approximately ¥800 RMB. Overall satisfaction: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ #SanDiego #SanDiegoFood #TravelDiaries #RestaurantRecommendations
