Discovered the hidden menu with pork chops at SakaiBar!
Lured in by the pork chop sandwich, but today I was craving a big bowl of white rice, turns out you can also order pork chops in the restaurant. The place is small; we walked in at 7:00 and waited in line for 45 minutes. The service was slow; it took an hour and a half to finish five dishes. The atmosphere inside was great, the music was chill, and all in all, including the tip, it was about 100 per person. 🥩 Grilled Beef Tongue I had high expectations, but I found it rather ordinary. The flavor and tenderness were just passable; if you like beef tongue, you can give it a try. 🐽 Tonkatsu Sando Thick-cut pork chop, not fully cooked in the middle, still a bit pink and juicy, which was nice. The breading was a bit average, with some of it coming off, and without a draining rack, the side touching the vegetables was not as crispy. But it was delicious! I ended up ordering two. 🤣 🐽 Chashu Pork + Ramen Toppings This was the best of the day, but it was served so slowly that I couldn’t eat anymore. The meat was tender, and the seasoning was just right, a sweet and savory mix. 🍗 Chicken + Mushroom This dish was quite bland and had a slight bitterness. At 30 before tax, it didn’t feel like the best value. The chicken skin was pretty good, though, kind of like roast duck skin. #Toronto #TorontoFood #TorontoDT #TorontoIzakaya
