The two of us spent about $150 at this restaurant and still left hungry. In all my years of dining out in Toronto, I have never experienced a restaurant owner telling me that I’m not hungry and refusing to let me order more food. The owner’s rudeness was beyond belief.
The service was abysmal. Servers were dismissive, food took an unreasonably long time to arrive, and the portions were so small that we needed to order more. When we tried to do so, we were outright refused because they wanted to turn over the table.
Initially, the server casually mentioned it was better to order everything at once, but this was never presented as a strict policy. When we asked to order additional food, one server brushed us off, saying it would “take too long,” and walked away. I flagged down another server to clarify, only to receive the same dismissive response about the kitchen being “too backed up.” Both servers left without resolving the issue, so I had to escalate it further.
Eventually, the owner came to speak with us. His explanation? Customers are required to order everything at once—no exceptions. When I explained that we were still hungry, he argued that we weren’t (which is both condescending and absurd). He justified the policy by saying he needed to consider the people waiting in line, completely disregarding our experience as paying customers. When I pointed out that the server failed to mention this “policy,” the owner dismissed me with a half-hearted apology and an incredibly defensive attitude — “sorry there is nothing I can do”
This encounter left me disheartened. The restaurant clearly prioritizes turnaround time and profit over the basic satisfaction of its diners. Ensuring that customers leave a restaurant feeling fed is one of the most fundamental aspects of hospitality—not maximizing how quickly you can seat the next party.
Despite all this, we were still denied the chance to order more food. Instead, they brought out a single dessert for us to share.
Adding insult to injury was the mandatory 18% service fee, which felt entirely unwarranted for such poor service. I have never been treated with this level of disrespect at a restaurant. Be warned: if you’re still hungry, don’t expect to be able to add to...
Read moreEveryone was raving about this place, and I had been meaning to try it for a long time. So, we went and sat at the bar, where we could see the kitchen. And when we saw what was going on, we both just lost it. How could someone be handling raw egg yolks with their bare hands... and touched the receipt and then using the same hands to massage the egg yolk?! Thank goodness we didn't order the egg yolk rice bowl, or we wouldn't have been able to finish our meal. We ordered four dishes, but only the mashed potatoes were decent, but not impressive. The pork chop sandwich was mediocre, the pork chop was not flavorful, and the bread used was also mediocre. If you want a tonkatsu sandwich, go to Ohiru Cafe. 😳❌❌❌❌❌The worst part was that we ordered three drinks, and the last one tasted like soap water to my friend and me. It was so unpleasant that we couldn't even finish it, and our taste buds were severely offended. We were very polite and courteous and told the bartender that the drink tasted strange. We didn't expect him to make us another one, but his response was "This is exactly just what I wanted it to taste."😳 In a normal bar, if I taste a strange-tasting drink, they usually make me another one or explain why the drink tastes that way. But his attitude was so bad, and he charged 16🔪 for a drink that was less than 100ml and was so rude! The bartender's face turned black after he said that, and he didn't even ask us if the food was good. And when it came time to pay, he gave me the cash register himself, and I was using a Visa credit card. He didn't tell me that Visa cards would incur an additional fee, and if he had, I wouldn't have used my Visa card to pay. He charged me an additional fee anyway. The taste is bad enough, but the hygiene is a huge problem, and at least the service attitude...
Read moreThe service attitude at this restaurant was terrible. Initially, they told us there would be a 30-minute wait. However, when we went back after 30 minutes to check, they said we needed to wait another 15 minutes. In the end, we waited a total of 55 minutes to get in. When we finally entered, there were actually two empty tables in the restaurant.
Since we were afraid of the cold, we asked if we could sit at a table further inside. The owner impatiently said “no” and directed us to the table closest to the door.
When it came time to order, things got even worse. Nobody came to take our order, and we were left waiting another 20 minutes. Once we started ordering, they imposed all sorts of restrictions. Each dish was limited to one order per table, and even more absurdly, the four of us were only allowed to order two bowls of rice.
When the dishes arrived, we noticed that the portions were very small, and the food didn’t taste particularly good. It made no sense why the wait time was so long. The service was extremely slow. We waited almost half an hour for the pork sandwich, and when I asked if it could be canceled due to the delay, the server said it would be ready in “2 seconds.” Yet we ended up waiting an additional 15 minutes.
When the pork finally arrived, it was undercooked, with a strong, unpleasant pork smell and a bitter taste.
At the end of the meal, we asked if the drinks could be split among us when paying, but the server refused and said the bill could only be divided equally. They also charged HST for every drink, but we felt the drinks were incredibly weak, with the alcohol content likely below 7%.
Finally, they force a service charge onto the bill. With their poor service and bad attitude, I don’t think they...
