Domodomo Dallas | Japanese-Korean Fusion from New York

It’s been a while since I last posted about a restaurant visit! I came across Domodomo on Instagram last Friday and decided to give it a try after seeing the nice photos of the ambiance and food. According to their official website, this is a creative restaurant that originated in New York, specializing in Domokase (a combination of the restaurant’s name and omakase). 💸 The price is $135 per person, which includes five small appetizers, five courses, and two desserts. For an additional $35, you can upgrade one of the courses to A5 Wagyu beef. If you’re craving more sushi, you can also add caviar handrolls for $35 per person, which are served tableside and freshly prepared right in front of you. Drinks are extra. I can confirm that this meal is quite filling. Initially, I thought there would be a lot of sushi dishes since the website mainly talks about omakase. However, I found out that there’s actually only one course with sushi. The rest are fusion creative dishes. So, if you’re expecting a traditional omakase experience with lots of sushi, this place might not meet your expectations. Throughout the evening, I noticed that several dishes had a more Korean flavor profile in terms of sauce combinations and ingredient choices. 🤔 But if you enjoy fusion creative dishes, this place is definitely worth a try. The atmosphere is great and perfect for a date night. 👍👍 Each dish seems to reflect the chef’s personal touch with ingredients and flavor combinations. I asked the waiter, and they said that the menu changes slightly almost every day. The chef adjusts the ingredients based on customer feedback from the previous days and sometimes even changes the order in which the dishes are served. The main idea is to offer a unique experience every time you visit. During my meal with my husband, I sensed that the chef used yuzu, cantaloupe, and shiso leaves to create some callbacks in the dishes. #DallasAdventures #DallasFood #DallasWeekend #StudentEats #StudentLife
