Downtown Montreal Food Guide 🍜
Final exam season = zero cooking, just eating out. Here’s my DT food roundup for newcomers (and future me)! 🍲 Korean Food Edition (At this point, I might as well be in Seoul. MTL’s food scene is 70% Korean—sorry, not sorry, "white people food." 😂) 1. Sam Cha 🏆 Must-order: Spicy braised pork trotters—life-changingly good. Even my pork-hating roommate approved! Pair it with: Bibimbap or army stew for the perfect meal. 2. Bar Ganadara 🥩 Why it’s great: Meat platter (beef short ribs + turkey leg = so tender). Vibe: Servers are ridiculously attractive—15% tip is just for the eye candy. 👀💘 Note: Closed Mondays (I ate here after Sam Cha, otherwise it’d be #1). 3. COQCOR 🍗 Highlights: Crispy fried chicken + spicy rice cakes. Bonus: Super friendly staff! 4. Chimaek Gana 👎🏻 Skip: Bland spicy chicken feet + mediocre army stew (tasted like "random freezer ingredients thrown together"). Silver lining: Baby Powder fried chicken (cheese-dusted!) was amazing—though they forgot our order and comped us Cokes. 🥤 5. Ganadara (Mackay) 🧀 Star dish: Kimchi poutine with tender beef. Service win: Accidentally ordered wrong poutine? The owner gave us a full-sized correct order for free. 🥺 #MTLFoodie #KoreanFoodHeaven #EatLikeALocal #NoWhiteFoodAllowed
