DUNSMOOR|When Los Angeles Meets 【American Heritage Cuisine】🔥

Sorting through my photo archive, the first place that jumps to mind is DUNSMOOR. If I had to choose a “Restaurant of the Year,” this would definitely be on the list. Known for its American heritage cookery, this open-fire kitchen brings perfect Southern flavors right to Los Angeles. 🍂 Opening in the Glassell Park neighborhood was a bold move—the area once had a rough reputation. But the restaurant, rebuilt inside a historic bank building, completely transforms the space. With its open-fire grills, long communal tables lit by flickering candles 🕯️, earthy adobe-toned walls, and dried herbs hanging above the open kitchen, the atmosphere feels both warm and deeply stylish. I’ve been a fan of the chef since ten years ago—I was won over by his biscuits at The Hart and the Hunter. I also remember the “CAST IRON” tattoo on his finger 👨🍳🔥, so of course I had to order the Corn Bread. It did not disappoint! Served with exquisite achadinha butter drizzled over tangy buttermilk cornbread—it was pure perfection. 🧈🌽 The Braised Greens are a true test of Southern cooking—slow-cooked over charcoal, they honestly elevate the entire LA food scene. Aunt Emmy's Pork & Green Chili Stew 🌶️🥘 is the kind of comfort food that makes everyone—Mexican or not—applaud. The Chopped Chicken Liver spread on freshly baked bread was irresistibly rich—I loved the caramelized onion jam and bacon mixed in, which cut the richness and added amazing depth. And the Smoked Quail with its incredible sauce was almost too beautiful to eat… almost. 😉 But the showstopper? The Beef Ribeye roasted with bone marrow 🥩✨. The aroma of rendered fat and crispy char still haunts my taste buds—every time I think about it, it’s a sensory memory I truly savor. #RestaurantOfTheYear #100RestaurantsChallenge #LocalFavorite #LocalsKnowBest #HiddenGems #SoulFood #LAFood #LADining #EaterLA #OpenFireCooking #BBQ #AmericanBBQ #LALife #FoodGuide
