Early to Bed, Early to Rise | Skip the Kona Line, Try Vavin Instead?
Day 6️⃣: Last day, rushing to catch the flight. I highly recommend the only dessert place I visited twice during this trip in Honolulu 🍦. 🥐 Name: Vavin Dessert Bar 🍽️ Hours: 7am - until sold out This vacation, I stayed at KaLa’i Waikiki Beach, LXR Hotels & Resorts. Since we left early every day, many shops weren't open yet. Vavin is just a 2-minute walk from the hotel (I spotted it on my way to catch the bus and walked in on a whim—it was a great choice!). It specializes in croissants and choux pastry, opens early, and consistently delivers delicious treats. The best part? Their pastries are not too sweet, which is a relief in Hawaii where everything seems to be drenched in syrup and honey. 😌 For croissants, I recommend the Honey & Seasalt and Double Pistachio. Freshly baked, they're huge, crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and slightly greasy, but that doesn't detract from their amazing taste! 😋 The coffee was solid. On the first day, I ordered a cappuccino with smooth, creamy foam. On the second day, I went for a Vienna (that tiramisu latte was a game-changer). Side note: I couldn't quite get used to the espresso made from 100% Kona beans at other popular Oahu coffee shops. The heavy oiliness and nutty aroma were a bit overwhelming. One day, I tried an iced latte that tasted like I'd swallowed a mouthful of sunflower oil. Yikes! 🧟♀️ That wraps up my Hawaii adventures for now. I'll always cherish the amazing weather there.
