Vavin! I have been searching for a true French patisserie. “C’est bon!”- the cheesecake brought me back to Paris- it made me think of the days where we sat outside the cafes sipping lattes and enjoying little pastry items. This cheesecake is precise. It does not taste like your normal cheesecake. It is exquisite and debonair! Only the true French tongue can remember that taste and create it.
The chef has studied and lived in Vavin, France. I was searching for the true Parisian flavor and I have found it! He has come from afar to create eclectic and lingering aromatic fusion flavors of lilikoi eclair. So delicate and exquisite- with portions which are bite size and perfect.
I cannot say enough about his croissant. Wow- a little crispy on the outside and the inside is fluffy and irresistible. You can’t stop pulling and enjoying it - every tasty morsel. This is what a croissant should taste like. It has push and pull.
Let me not forget about the tiramisu logs! Oh so surprisingly flavorful! I just had to try a little bit of everything right there at the shop before heading home with more, for the rest of my family to try. Oui! Oui! They said! We are all Paris lovers- traveling back there soon.
Enchante! We shall be back! Next time, I will do as the Parisians and take time eating in with their fine porcelain mugs and plates. Ambience is everything! Life is too short! Enjoy, relax, sip some latte, go back to Paris in the days when you could stroll and enjoy life! Visit Vavin! A little bit of...
Read moreThis is truly a gem. They sell out so quickly though, especially on the weekends! My rule of thumb would be to try and get there before 10 if you want any of the good stuff. Their main staples are usually sold out by 10.. but honestly everything there is delicious. I got the tiramisu iced coffee which was so delicious and wonderful in every way. It was unique and so tasty with my rainbow croissant! The croissant was perfectly baked and the flakiness was amazing. they pipe the cream in to order so that the croissant doesn’t get soggy while sitting in the case. Currently their seasonal filling for the rainbow croissant is strawberry and the jam they have inside is the perfect sweetness. It tastes so fresh and isn’t the overly sweet flavor that you get with practically any filling for any pastry. I love that the flavors are light and not overpowering. We went back the next day and got the tiramisu pastry (not pictured sorry) and it was so phenomenal I almost cried. It was so delicious and crunchy and not overpowering. The pastry was baked to perfection and didn’t leave a weird aftertaste (which I feel like some croissants do if they are baked incorrectly). All in all, this definitely takes the spot of the best bakery on island at the moment. Sadly, there is no parking so you definitely need to park and walk or pay for parking at the post office...
Read moreAbsolute favorite for pastries! The croissants are flaky with a slightly crunchier shell, and the creams/fillings are just perfect; you can really taste the quality. Easily the best croissants I've had (personally feel that they stand out even among notorious places like Ariscault in SF). They're perfectly light, elegant, flavorful, and are made with the best ingredients like T45 flour. The owners pay such careful attention to the taste and quality of each batch and you can tell how passionate they are about making the perfect pastries.
I think I'm nearing the point of having tried almost everything. All the croissants are amazing but the pistachio croissant and tiramisu-inspired pastry (I don't remember the name but it's coffee/vanilla cream) are my favorites, with the almond one being a close second. The eclairs are also excellent, and the teas are extremely good - aside from the classics, the Pu Erh Tea is actually reminiscent of sticky rice, which is something I've never tried before.
So much more to rave about with the quality and taste but another thing that's noteworthy is that their desserts never get me bloated (or anyone I know whom I've shared it with + usually get bloated from eating desserts/pastries). Can't recommend this place enough!
Will try to add...
