Eat & Drink in Philly|Chatayee Thai – A Doorway Straight to Thailand

1️⃣ Mango Sticky Rice – So delicious! Their mango selection is excellent. The subtle sweetness of the glutinous rice layers with the honey-like richness of the mango chunks, all enhanced by creamy coconut sauce — an unparalleled dessert finale! ⚠️ Tip: Eat it fast — my friend and I were too polite, and the rice dried out… texture suffered. 2️⃣ Tom Kha with Shrimp Soup – My absolute favorite, I couldn’t bear to finish it! The first sip sent me back in time: landing in Thailand, stepping from a cool taxi into hot, lively streets, then sitting in an air-conditioned street-side stall sipping that first mouthwatering Thai soup. Rich coconut milk, plump tender shrimp, and tangy-spicy broth — pure bliss in a bowl. 3️⃣ Tom Yum with Shrimp Soup – Also delicious, but on the clearer, spicier side. The light broth lets lemongrass shine and highlights the natural flavors of the veggies and fresh shrimp. 🌶️ Spice level: We chose the second-hottest option (just below “ultimate Thai spicy”) — still not very spicy (coming from someone from a non-spicy province!). 4️⃣ Kratiem Prik Thai (Stir-fried Seafood) – Fresh seafood is the star here. Huge shrimp and tender scallops, plus bouncy squid — all generously portioned and cooked perfectly. Paired with jasmine rice, this dish pushed us over the edge into food coma territory. ⚠️ Great for seafood lovers, but if you’re not into natural seafood flavor, try their curry instead — seasoning here is light. 5️⃣ Autumn Roll – Slightly larger than typical mass-produced spring rolls, with nicely grilled crispy wrappers. But the filling is pretty standard — skip it to save room. 6️⃣ Chicken Satay – Good portion for the price, but the chicken was slightly overcooked and dry. Also underseasoned — felt like they forgot the satay spices. 👵 Service shout-out: A kind, darker-skinned lady wearing a hat (seemed like the owner/founder) kept a close eye on all tables, guiding the staff to provide super attentive service. Loved it! #PhillyEats #ThaiFood #ChatayeeThai #MangoStickyRice #AuthenticThai #PhillyFoodie
