Eating Churros at an Italian Restaurant?
Boston Restaurant Week at Scampo I went to Scampo on the last day of Boston Restaurant Week, and I have to say, this is the level of fine dining we should expect (calling out Barcelona Wine Bar and Tresca). I didn't get a dinner table reservation, but the red bar counter turned out to be super classyâI loved it! đ„ Bread : The breadsticks were crispy and fragrantâdelicious! đ„ Appetizers : - Honey Nut Squash Soup w/ Black Truffle Sabayon : The flavor is rich but not greasy, with a buttery and honey-sweet aroma. It was a pleasant surprise. - Thin Linguine w/ Clams Carbonara : The creaminess is perfect, with a hint of black pepper spiciness and a touch of lemon. The lemon acidity balances it just right, making it not greasy but also not overpowering. It could easily be a main course at other restaurantsâhighly recommended. đ Main Courses : - Delicate Potato Gnocchi w/ Crumbled Sausage & Broccoli Raab Pesto : I've never had such tender gnocchi before, filled with mashed potatoes. The sausage crumbles are super flavorfulâunforgettable! - Duo: Macadamia Nut Crusted Haddock & Chili Chicken Breast, White Sweet Potato : The mashed potatoes are slightly sweet and very tasty. The fish is mixed with some peanut crumbs, but overall it's average. However, the topping looks and tastes a lot like churros, even the oil-soaked flavor is similar! I wonder what this actually is. đź Dessert: - Chocolate CrĂ©meux w/ Chocolate Crumble & Vanilla Gelato : It tastes like a chocolate liqueur! A bit bitter, so it's better to eat it with the vanilla gelato on the side. Overall, it's on the sweet side. My roommate loved it, but I could only manage a few bites. - Scampo Sorbet w/ Brown Sugar Cookie : A rare find! A refreshing coconut sorbet with coconut flakesâa delightful surprise! I really enjoyed it. After the main course, this was very refreshing. I thought the brown sugar cookie would be a cookie dough biscuit, but it turned out to be a thin wafer. Delicious and highly recommended. Price: $36 đȘ plus tax and tip, $45 total. #HiddenGems #BostonRestaurantWeek #BostonLife #Boston #ItalianCuisine #WorthRemembering
