Eating in Alaska
Eating in Alaska | Still Ate McDonald's the Most McDonald's forever! ๐๐ Ordering McDonald's during travels never disappoints! But when will the twisted fries come back? ๐ซ Alaskans truly embrace the slow-paced life ๐ขโค๏ธโalways make reservations! Otherwise, you might end up waiting outside for over an hour. Service and checkout are also slow, so be sure to plan your time accordingly. ๐ Fairbanks Soba ๐โโ๏ธ๐โโ๏ธ๐โโ๏ธ Salata Olivie is a delicious potato and mayo salad ๐ฅ๐ฅ. The meat platter we ordered included roasted beef, which was a bit dry. The honey cake was a little too sweet ๐ฐ๐ . The Pump House ๐โโ๏ธ๐โโ๏ธ๐โโ๏ธ๐โโ๏ธ King Crab was incredibly tasty!! ๐ฆ๐ It had a subtle sweet aftertaste. Even though our guide said Alaskan king crab is processed before sale, you could still tell it was fresh. Reindeer had no gamey tasteโwrapped in bacon, it was fragrant and tender ๐ฆ๐ฅ. Trying it for the first time was a revelation! I ended up having reindeer dogs three more times in Alaska. The seafood pasta had a heavy cream flavorโa bit rich after a while, but we still finished it all ๐๐. My halibut was dry, so I kept stealing bites of my friendโs reindeer ๐. ๐ Anchorage Miso Sushi & Bar ๐โโ๏ธ๐โโ๏ธ๐โโ๏ธ๐โโ๏ธ๐โโ๏ธ The sashimi was fresh and deliciousโtoro and salmon were rich in fat but not greasy ๐ฃ๐. The uni was sweet and fresh without any fishiness, and the ika had a nice chew that I loved ๐ฆโค๏ธ. The white tuna was nothing special. The tempura broccoli was surprisingly good ๐ฅฆ๐ค! We sat at the bar, and the Korean chef chatted with us the whole time ๐ฃ๏ธ๐จโ๐ณ. When he noticed we missed a dish, he even sent us dessert. Who wouldโve thought a small Alaskan sushi spot could feel like omakase? ๐กโจ Jimmyโs Asian Restaurant ๐ โโ๏ธ No sushi or sashimi, and the Chinese dishes werenโt great ๐. The fish head soup used salmon headโthe fishy smell overwhelmed the broth ๐๐คข. After one bowl, the strange flavor lingered, and two hungry travelers lost their appetites. We ended up relying on McDonaldโs hot drinks to recover โ๏ธ๐. WONJO (no photo) ๐โโ๏ธ๐โโ๏ธ We got takeoutโthe Seolleongtang (ox bone soup) forgot to include salt ๐ฒ๐ . The fish cake and rice cakes were good but too spicy for me ๐ถ๏ธ๐ฅ. I had to rinse them in the bland soup. My only memory of this place is the delicious side dishes! ๐ฅ๐ #AlaskaFood#TravelEats#Alaska#FoodExploration#McDonaldsForever ๐๐
