Eating My Way Through New Orleans: A 3-Day Solo Trip for One Girl ❤️
🌟 New Orleans is perfect for a spontaneous solo trip! It’s totally walkable (no car needed) and super girl-friendly! I only stayed for 3 days and 2 nights, and my main goal? Eat as much amazing food as possible! 🦞 Crawfish: Big EZ Seafood 🆚 Cajun Seafood I rushed to Big EZ Seafood (near the airport) on my first night for crawfish. It’s a Cajun spot run by Vietnamese owners, so the flavor is pretty unique—they add celery to the sides, which gives it a nice extra kick. I ordered the single-person 3-pound crawfish set: the crawfish were huge, and the meat was so tender. On the third day, I got takeout from Cajun Seafood (it’s pretty far, so delivery was the way to go)—and it was terrible. It was way too salty to eat, and the crawfish were tiny. Total letdown 😩! 🦪 Oysters: Deanie‘s 🆚 Luke Day 2 was all about oyster feasting! Both spots had oysters of similar size, and they were equally fresh. Deanie’s cleans their oysters a little more thoroughly, but the restaurant’s vibe is pretty basic. Luke, though? It’s way more upscale—super nice atmosphere. Pro tip for Luke: Go during happy hour (3-6 PM)! Oysters are only $1.50 each—unbeatable value 💥! 🍩 Beignets: Café Beignet 🆚 Café Du Monde So many people rave about Café Du Monde, but because of my schedule, I only made it to the airport location. Not sure if it’s a quality issue there, but their beignets were small, hard, and the last one was even burnt. Yikes. Café Beignet (the one on Royal Street) was a total win! It has a cute little garden, so the vibe is lovely. Their beignets are incredibly fluffy, and the sweetness is just right—way better than regular American donuts (like, 100,000 miles better) 🍩! 🐱 Bearcat I got there around 11 AM, and there was already a long line outside. But here’s the perk of traveling solo: I skipped the line and sat at the bar right away! I ordered the “Lobster Daddy”—fried whole lobster plus crawfish. Such a creative dish 😂! The lobster was crispy and flavorful, but it got a bit salty by the end. At nearly $40, it’s not the best value. But do try their matcha latte with coconut water—it’s amazing! The matcha and coconut flavors are rich, and it’s not too sweet. So refreshing! 🍸 The Sazerac Sazerac is said to be America’s first cocktail—and it was invented right here in NOLA! The restaurant itself is beautiful, and they offer a super generous free tour! You get to learn about the history of the spot and even try a free cocktail sample. Don’t miss it 🥂! 🎠 Carousel Bar This is a local favorite! The best part? There’s a circular rotating seat area in the middle—just like a carousel. They start playing jazz at 9 PM, so it’s the perfect spot to unwind with a drink and some music 🎶. 🍗 Willie’s Chicken New Orleans doesn’t have grilled wings, but it does have fried chicken! I ordered the chicken tenders—they had a thin, crispy coating that tasted great, but the meat was dry and lacked juiciness. A solid option, but not mind-blowing. #NewOrleans
