Edmonton restaurant exploration
Hathaway‘s Diner 🥧 is a brunch spot, but it’s even more famous for its cream pies! The brunch here is just decent, nothing extraordinary—think fluffy pancakes 🥞 and classic eggs Benedict 🥚 that hit the spot but won’t make you gasp. But the pies? Chef’s kiss 😍 They’re the real stars, with crusts that are buttery and flaky, like little edible clouds ☁️! This time, I tried the Pistachio Pineapple pie, and it was absolutely amazing! 🤯 The vibrant green pistachio cream swirled with golden pineapple chunks looks like a summer masterpiece 🌈. It’s a little sweet, but the cream has an incredible texture—light and airy, not heavy at all 🧁—and you can taste the distinct chunks of pineapple, which make the sweetness feel refreshing, like a tropical breeze in your mouth 🌴. Every forkful is a party of nutty, fruity, creamy goodness that’ll make you moan 😋! After brunch, it’s just a five-minute drive to St. Albert Farmers Market. 🚗 Roll down the windows and soak in the fresh air—you’ll be there before you know it! They say it’s Canada’s largest outdoor farmers market, and it really is huge and fun to explore! 🛍️ Rows and rows of stalls selling everything from fresh veggies 🥬 to handcrafted jewelry ✨—you could spend hours wandering. It’s open every Saturday rain or shine, right through until October, so no excuses to miss it 🌧️☀️! We even got to try the super popular Dubai chocolate 🥹—fresh strawberries with pistachio chocolate sauce and nut crumbs. Who could resist that? The strawberries aren’t tart at all 🍓, plump and sweet like nature’s candy, while the chocolate sauce is rich and nutty with a hint of warmth 🍫. The nut crumbs add a satisfying crunch 🌰, making every bite a perfect mix of textures. It’s so good, we went back for seconds (no shame) 👅! Pro tip: Get to the market early—by 10 am, the lines for the best treats (like that Dubai chocolate) start snaking around the stalls 🚶♀️! Grab a coffee ☕️ from one of the vendors, then munch on your pie leftovers while you shop—pure weekend bliss 🥰. Between the diner’s pies and the market’s treasures, this little day trip is a must for food lovers 🌟! #Edmonton#Edmontoncuisine
