Came on a Friday around 6pm and most of the donuts were not sold out. I came for the ube donut and I was pleasantly surprised. It was pretty, not overtly sweet (which I really appreciate), and the custard filling was mildly ube flavoured. I ended up getting 6 different donuts and the employee offered a complimentary one. I shared every one with a friend over the course of two days. Every donut was great. None were overly sweet which again, I really appreciate. None were doughy or too bready (unlike other donut shops) which I really appreciate - a good balance. Every donut looked carefully decorated and delicious. The chocolate truffle donut had an actual chocolate truffle which was chocolatey and delicious. The churro donut which had a great cinnamon flavour had a few mini churros on top which were crunchy. The coconut cream donut was perfectly balanced. I enjoyed the two types of coconut in them. My favourite was the raspberry lychee. The filling was perfect - flavourful and not too sweet. I’m definitely coming back and early so I can try the other flavours. Note it’s not a cafe. It’s takeout only. Too bad cause I’d spend more if...
Read moreIn all honesty I just thought the doughnuts were okay. I got the raspberry lychee and maple bacon. The raspberry lychee ($4.50) had good amount of filling and the lychee was prominent but the raspberry glaze was too sticky for my liking. As for the maple bacon ($2.95), the maple flavour came through but a bit too sweet for me. You couldn't really taste the bacon, you would just get a small crunch here and there. I felt like the base doughnut itself didn't feel or taste as fresh as other places I have tried. I also wanted to get the traditional glaze but it didn't look appetizing to me after seeing it in the store. Overall, I didn't love it compared to other people and I couldn't justify paying $8 for something I didn't enjoy eating as much.
I was expecting the store to look nicer inside but it's quite bare. Most of the time when you walk into a doughnut shop or any bakery, you get hit with the smell of baked goods however this store didn't have that. It just smells like a warehouse and I think doughnuts get dropped off here in...
