Elephant National Park
🗺️ Addo Elephant National Park South Africa's third-largest national park, established in 1931, is located about a one-hour drive from the outskirts of Gqeberha (formerly Port Elizabeth). It now covers an area of 1,640 square kilometers. It is an underrated national park among Chinese tourists! 🐘 Highest Density of Elephants in Africa: The park is home to approximately 600 elephants. 🐳 The Only "Big Seven" Region in the World: You can find elephants, rhinoceroses, lions, buffaloes, leopards, whales, sharks and here. 🪲 World's Largest Population of Dung Beetles: They are often seen crossing the roads. Other common animals include zebras, hyenas, antelopes, and dung beetles... 🌅 Best Time to Visit: 3-4 hours are recommended. The best times to see animals are during their active periods in the early morning or late afternoon. The park closes at 6 p.m. 🚗 Self-Drive Recommended: The park will provide you with a paper map. ⚠️ Google Maps are available within the park, but GPS navigation may not work effectively! 🛤️ Road Conditions: The park has both paved and dirt roads. An SUV is recommended for better mobility. 📷 When Spotting Animals: Please stop your vehicle voluntarily, keep quiet, and do not disturb the animals. 🦁 Lions are mainly found near the main camp, but seeing them requires some luck. Marine animals are not in the main park area. 🗺️ Recommended Route: If you have limited time, enter through the main entrance and exit through the south gate, then head back to Port Elizabeth. If you have more time, do the opposite and spend some time at the main entrance to visit the souvenir shop and Interpretive Centre. 🚫 Drones are prohibited, and checks will be conducted. Other Information: Entrance Fee: For international visitors, it is 437 South African Rand per person (subject to change). You can also pay extra to take a game drive with an English-speaking guide. Keep your ticket safe as it will be checked when entering and exiting. Seasons: The dry season from May to September is less crowded. December to January is the peak season. Accommodation: There are camping and lodging options within the park, which can be more expensive for overnight stays. Other Tips: Fill up your vehicle with fuel before entering. Bring your own snacks and water. Use the restroom before buying your ticket, otherwise, be prepared to face the consequences (jokingly speaking, but it's good to be prepared). #SouthAfricaTravel #GardenRoute #Elephants #Africa #AfricanTravel #Safari #TourGuide
