Elk Refuge in Jackson, Wyoming: Here's the Horse Carriage!

1. If you want to observe elk up close in the Jackson National Elk Refuge, just follow these steps. First, use Google Maps for navigation and set the location as "national elk refuge & greater yellowstone" (it's in the direction when you leave the town towards Grand Teton National Park). πŸ˜ŠπŸ—ΊοΈπŸš— Once you see the sign shown in Figure 1, turn in there and you'll find a free parking lot. The wooden building in Figure 2 is the visitor center which is open for you to visit. And the small white carriage behind the visitor center is where the ticket window is located, as shown in Figure 3. (In case it's windy or snowing and the window is closed, remember to knock on the window to get the attention of the lady inside.) 🏠πŸͺŸπŸŽ« 2. Figure 4 displays the ticket prices. It's $40 for adults and $25 for children. The lady at the ticket window will also ask whether you'd like to pay the tips for the driver and the carriage tour guide by card or in cash later. Anyway, tips are expected! After getting your tickets as shown in Figure 5, wait at the entrance of the visitor center for the shuttle bus to pick you up and take you to the refuge where you'll transfer to the horse carriage. (The shuttle buses usually come at an interval of about 20 minutes.) Before getting on the bus, they'll check and collect your tickets. πŸšŒπŸ“„πŸ’³ The Figures 6 - 9 show the visitor center. You can take a stroll around while waiting for the bus. It's a nice way to pass the time and explore a bit more about the place. πŸžοΈπŸšΆβ€β™€οΈπŸ“Έ 3. Finally, when you board the horse carriage as shown in Figure 10, you'll enter the elk refuge. Looking at how others are dressed, I suddenly realized it wasn't going to be that comfortable as the wind in the refuge was really strong and it was freezing cold. But the whole process lasts about an hour. You can observe the elk up close, and there's the lady driving the carriage and acting as a tour guide who will give explanations on the spot. Despite the cold, it's actually quite an interesting experience! Once it's over, you'll take the shuttle bus back to the visitor center and that's the end of the whole activity. πŸ˜ƒπŸŽπŸ¦Œ #ElkRefugeWyoming #JacksonTownElkWatching #HorseCarriageTour
